Capital is reckless of the health or length of life of the laborer, unless under compulsion from society

Karl Marx (via philosophy-quotes)

It is rather the tyrant than the people who is to be considered the rebel.

Max Lossen, Die Lehre vom Tyrannenmord in der Christlichen Zeit, (1894).

The bandit is the people’s hero, defender, savior. He is the implacable enemy of the state and the whole social and civil order set up by the state.

Mikail Bakunin, Revolution, Terrorism, Banditry, (1869).

Liberating the people is moral, already moral because it gives the people the possibility of living a moral way of life. Morals are inconceivable without freedom.

G. Tarnovski, Terrorism and Routine (1880)

Activate the Mechanism!: Twitter bomb time: #Liberalismin4words

stfuconservatives:

I know we’re all used to a good old fashioned Tumblr bombing, so I thought we could extend our liberal invasion skills to Twitter. #Liberalismin4words is trending right now, with such gems as “Sloth. Wrath. Envy. Pride.” “What’s yours is mine” and “We use bath salts.”…

Guys.

Liberalism =/= American Liberals like Democratics. Historical liberalism refers to the existence of states and a capitalist economic system which is either independent of the state, or they are linked together in a corporatist relationship.

Conservatives are liberals in that they wish to perpetuate the liberal system of capitalism and states. People who are not liberals: Fascists, who wish to merge economic, cultural, and political life into serving the state. Anarchists, who wish to reconstruct politics outside of the centralizing power of the state and the exploitative power of the capitalist economic system. Communists who wish to do something in the middle depending on who you’re talking to. People who are still liberals: “Liberals,” “Conservatives,” and socialists, and anyone who exists along this gamut everyone feels so strongly encompasses politics with George Bush on the right side and like Dennis Kucinich on the other.

It is typical that Western Society tends to moralize about bad things - and, having salved its collective conscience, do nothing else.

Paul Bohannan, Law and Warfare

As anarchism is a political philosophy that opposes all relationships of power, it is inherently feminist. An anarchist who supports male domination contradicts the implicit critique of power which is the fundamental principle upon which all of anarchism is built. Sexist anarchists do indeed exist, but only by virtue of directly contradicting their own anarchism.

Susan Brown, Beyond Feminism

You are undone if you forget that the fruits of the earth belong to all of us, and the earth itself to nobody.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau, The Second Discourse/The Discourse on Inequality

The ancient politicians spoke unceasingly of manners and virtue; ours speak of nothing but trade and money

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

It will be said that the despot assures his subjects civil tranquility. Granted; but what do they gain, if the very tranquility they enjoy is one of their miseries?

The Social Contract
